my solitude is honed at the mixer party.  just what i need to start my wmc experience off on a diverse tip and selfishly on my own.  throw on some sweats and sneakers and make a visit to the party. the guestlist politiking starts. i attempt to be as nice and girly as possible. southern belle syrupy sweetness on standby. carmen? carmen? there's two carmen's but none under my last name. i blurt out a name and the pink tickets fly into my hand. felix da housecat roaming around slapping tickets here and there. cute kid.

i am whisked through the door and get hit with a violent rapture of drum and bass. dirty kids with beer and hard liquor spilled on their shirts slam demons out of their body. i watch like a priest wondering how these children are possessed with such happy demonic energy. i continue to watch but soon, as if blasphemous to some househeads, i also submit to sin as i participate with rebellious punches in the stifling air to bad company. i control myself and gather a few pictures and move on to the next room: breakbeat and two step.

the breakbeat and two step room was on it. lots of youngins in the spot under twenty five. dj hyper and others rocking it. pony tailed b-girl and diva glitter sisters with ‘they hair did’ also grooving to some two step whose accents sound like they are from the london ‘twice as nice’ two step crowd of a few years back. pictures snapped, next room: house

i stumble into the smallest room of the venue for the house sets. just in time to peep out viktor duplaix flossing in his signature muscle shirt. i place him as one of the most potent djs, i mean, uh, producers that boldly ventures to deejay, who exudes masculine virility behind the tables. even the name viktor duplaix is naughtily delicious. yum. this will be first time of many i hear shauwn escoffrey’s 'days like this'. now the crowd is all lovey-dovey and sing-song happy. i take a few pictures of blissful smiley people dancing around. i also encounter a couple of ‘hanifah’ moments of kids wondering how i dance the way i do. i am so used to it so i don’t bother. besides, i feel good.

viktor blessed the intimate crowd with a collage of danceable tunes. likewise, he literally stopped what he was doing on the 1200’s and strategically posed for photos. yes, he is still best at his production talents and photogenic qualities. phew!  big ups to my man, konbit ;)
